Erie Coast Analytical: Ordering Guide for AI Agents
This guide is for AI agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Muse, Instinct and others) that order lab testing from Erie Coast Analytical (ECA) for a person. It explains how to order on https://www.erieanalytical.com the same way a person would. When ECA switches them on, agents can also order through ECA's API with no web page (section 6).
Agent server
For live prices, catalog search, shipping steps and certificate checks, use ECA's agent server:
- MCP server
https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/mcp- REST API
https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1
GET https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1/status or the get_ordering_status tool. The same guide with live prices is at GET https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1/guide.For general facts about the lab (methods, limits, what to cite), read https://www.erieanalytical.com/ai-info/
In this guide
1. Ground rules
Read these before you do anything else.
- Act only for a real person who asked you to. Every order belongs to one person's ECA account.
- Get the person's OK on the total before you pay. Show them the tests, number of samples, rush choice and total price, and wait for a yes.
- Never guess sample details. The labeled amount prints on the certificate, so ask the person for the exact amount on each vial label.
- Use the person's real email. Results, receipts and shipping instructions go there.
- Do not create a second account. If the email already has one, the person signs in instead.
- Do not give medical, dosing or usage advice about any compound. ECA reports composition only.
- A person must mail the vials. No agent can finish an order alone. Make sure the person knows that step is theirs.
- Never put a password in a message. Do not send one to the person, and never ask them for theirs.
2. Is ordering open?
Ordering is normally open. ECA can pause it for a while. While it is paused you can still look up prices and build an order, but checkout is closed.
- Agent server:
get_ordering_status(MCP) orGET https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1/statusreturnsordering_open: trueorfalse. Check it before checkout. - On the website, a paused checkout says ordering opens soon.
If ordering is paused, tell the person and stop before checkout. Do not try to get around it.
3. What can be ordered online
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Bundle: identity, measured quantity, HPLC purity | $220 per sample | Same price for every compound |
| Rush processing | $150, once per order | Highest lab priority. Processed ahead of standard orders. |
- Plus, Pro and Complete bundles, endotoxin, heavy metals, sterility, fentanyl screen and NPC are marked coming soon. They cannot be ordered yet.
- One sample means one vial tested. The Basic Bundle needs one main vial per sample.
- Turnaround is typically 24 to 48 hours from the day the vial arrives at the lab, not from the order date. Shipping time is extra.
- The live catalog on https://www.erieanalytical.com is the final word on prices and availability.
get_priceuses ECA's standard prices, the same ones checkout uses. A few accounts have special pricing from ECA. Checkout shows those accounts their own price. - If a compound is not in the catalog, the person can ask for a custom quote through the quote form on the site, or email support@erieanalytical.com.
- Bulk orders for vendors use a separate quote and manifest process. Point those requests to support@erieanalytical.com.
4. Before you start: what to ask the person
Collect all of this first, so you do not stop halfway through checkout.
- Which compound or compounds to test
- How many vials (samples) of each
- The labeled amount on each vial, with its unit: mg, mcg, g, IU or mL (example: 10 mg)
- Lot number for each vial, or "none" (it prints on the certificate)
- Rush or standard
- Full name and email (company and phone are optional)
- Discount or affiliate code, if they have one
- How they want to pay: card or crypto
- Do they already have an ECA account?
If anything is missing, ask the person before you go on. Do not fill gaps with guesses. You can send this message as is:
To order your lab test from Erie Coast Analytical, I need a few details:
- Which compound is in each vial, and how many vials you want tested.
- The amount printed on each vial label, with its unit (for example 10 mg).
- The lot number on each vial, or "none".
- Standard or rush? Rush is $150 per order: highest lab priority, processed ahead of standard orders.
- Card or crypto?
- Do you already have an ECA account? If so, which email is it under?
5. Step by step
Step 1: Sign in, or create the account
The account belongs to the person, and so does its password. Never put a password in a message.
If the person already has an account: they sign in on https://www.erieanalytical.com themselves.
If not, create the account one of two ways:
- The person signs up. They open the sign-up form on https://www.erieanalytical.com and enter their full name, their real email and a password they choose. "Sign in with Google" works too, if they do that step themselves.
- You complete sign-up for them. Open the sign-up form and enter the person's full name and real email. For the password, use a long random one that you never show or send to anyone. Then tell the person to set their own password with Forgot password on the sign-in form.
After sign-up the account is signed in right away and can order and pay.
If you can only use a browser, the easiest way is a cart link (Step 2): send it to the person. They open it, sign up or sign in themselves, check the cart and pay.
If ECA's API ordering tools are switched on, you can instead sign the person in with a 6-digit code that ECA emails them, with no password at all. See section 6.
ECA also emails the person a verify your email link. Ordering works before they click it, but results stay locked until they do. Remind them to click it.
If sign-up says "Registration failed. Please check your details or try logging in," the email probably already has an account. The person signs in, or resets their password with Forgot password.
If it says "Too many registration attempts," the person waits 15 minutes and tries again.
Step 2: Build the order
Fastest way: use find_compound to get each product id, then make_cart_link with every detail (samples, labeled amount and unit, lot number or "none", and rush). It returns one link that opens the cart with the whole order filled in. Open it, or send it to the person. If anything is missing, it returns ask_person instead: send that message to the person, then try again with their answers.
By hand on the website:
- Use
find_compoundto confirm the compound is in the catalog, or search the catalog on the site. - Choose the Basic Bundle and set the number of samples.
- Add it to the cart. Repeat for each compound.
- In the cart, for each line:
- Labeled amount (required): type the number and pick the unit. Checkout will not go through without it.
- Lot number: prints on the certificate. Leave it blank only if the person said "none".
- Turn on Rush processing if the person wants it. It is charged once per order.
- Check the total.
get_pricegives the total checkout will show, before any discount code. If the person's account has special pricing from ECA, checkout shows their price instead.
Step 3: Check out and pay
- Go to checkout. Confirm the full name and email. Company and phone are optional.
- Enter a discount code or affiliate code only if the person gave you one.
- Show the person the final total and get their OK.
- Choose a payment method:
- Credit or debit card: opens Stripe's secure checkout page. ECA never sees the card number.
- Crypto: opens a NOWPayments page where the person sends coins from their own wallet. Most agent wallets can only pay by card, so if the person picks crypto, hand them this page to finish.
- Complete payment on that page, or hand the page to the person if your platform does not let you pay.
When payment goes through, the site shows the order confirmation with the order number (looks like ECA26-0012).
Paying through the API (only when ECA has switched its API ordering tools on, section 6, and API payments too). Your key needs the pay scope. If pay_order or create_payment_link answers not_enabled, the person pays on the website as above.
- Show the person every line and the total, and get a clear yes. Paying moves their money.
- Card through Link: the person approves a shared payment token (it starts with
spt_) in their Link wallet, for exactly the total. Callpay_orderwithmethod: "shared_payment_token"and that token. ECA makes one charge with it and never sees the card. - Crypto address: call
pay_orderwithmethod: "crypto_address"andpay_currency(for examplebtc,eth,usdcorusdttrc20). You get an address and the exact amount. The person sends exactly that, in one payment, from their own wallet. - Payment link: call
create_payment_linkand send the person the link. It opens Stripe's card page or a NOWPayments page, and the person pays there. - Send a new idempotency key with each new payment request, and the same key when you retry one. Never send a card number; ECA does not take one.
- If you get
awaiting_approval: the order is over the key's approval amount, so ECA emailed the person an Approve link. Nothing is charged yet. Send them theask_personmessage, wait until they tell you they approved, then callpay_orderagain with a new idempotency key. If they click Decline, the draft is cancelled. - If you get
requires_actionorpayment_failed: nothing was charged. Usecreate_payment_link, or ask the person to pick another card in Link. - If you get
spend_cap: the key or the account reached its limit for the last 24 hours. Nothing was charged. Tell the person; they can raise the key's limit on their account page, or pay with a link. - If ECA says Stripe's answer was unclear: do not send a new token. Retry the same request with the same idempotency key, or check
get_order_statusin a few minutes. ECA checks with Stripe and charges nothing more until it knows. - The order is paid only when Stripe or NOWPayments confirms it. Check
get_order_status. When it sayspaid_awaiting_vials, get the packing slip and labels withget_shipping_kit.
ECA emails the person a receipt for every order an agent places and pays, with a "This wasn't me" link that cancels and refunds the order until the vials arrive.
Step 4: Shipping the vials (the person does this)
The confirmation page has buttons to print the packing slip and vial labels. ECA also emails both, with shipping instructions, to the person. get_shipping_instructions returns the same address and steps.
Tell the person to:
- Label each vial with the printed label that matches its vial code. Vials that are already labeled can go as they are. If a vial is too small for the label, put it in a clear bag and label the bag.
- Pack vials so they cannot break or leak. A zip bag, padded envelope or a little bubble wrap works.
- Put the packing slip in the box.
- Mail it to:
Erie Coast Analytical
Attn: Sample Receiving
1131 E Broad St
Elyria, OH 44035
United States
ECA accepts samples from any country. International senders handle their own customs paperwork. Samples are destroyed after testing and cannot be returned.
Step 5: Results
- The person tracks the order under My Orders at https://www.erieanalytical.com/?page=dashboard
- When testing is done, the signed Certificate of Analysis (COA) is in their account as a PDF.
- The COA stays locked until the person has verified their email.
6. Ordering through the API
ECA's API ordering tools appear only when ECA has switched them on. If create_draft_order is not in the tool list at https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/mcp/account, or not in https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1/openapi.json, use the website steps in section 5.
- Sign in with an email code. Call
start_signupfor a new account orstart_sign_infor an existing one. For a new account, show the person ECA's Terms at https://www.erieanalytical.com/terms/ first and sendaccept_terms: trueonly after they agree. ECA emails the person a 6-digit code. Ask them for it, then callconfirm_email_code. You get an API key for their account. No password is involved. - Use the key. Send it as
Authorization: Bearer <key>to https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/v1, or connect to https://www.erieanalytical.com/api/mcp/account with it. ECA shows the key once, so keep it. - Make a draft. Call
create_draft_orderwith every line (product id, samples, labeled amount and unit, lot number or "none"), rush yes or no, and card or crypto. It is priced exactly as checkout prices it, including any special pricing on the person's account, and nothing is charged. If a detail is missing, you getask_person: send that message to the person as is, then try again. Send a new idempotency key with each new draft (theIdempotency-Keyheader, oridempotency_keyon MCP), and the same one when you retry. - Check the total with the person. Show them each line and the total, and wait for a yes.
apply_discount_codetries a code they gave you.update_draft_orderchanges the lines, rush or payment method, andcancel_draft_ordercancels the draft. A changed draft gets a new order id. - Pay. Follow "Paying through the API" in section 5, Step 3: get the person's yes on the total, then call
pay_order(a Link shared payment token or a crypto address) orcreate_payment_link. The person can also pay on the website: they sign in, open My Orders and click Complete Payment. An account made through an agent has no password yet, so they set one first with Forgot password. - After payment.
get_order_statussays where the order stands.get_shipping_kitgives links to the packing slip and vial labels (they work for 1 hour) and the mailing address. When testing is done,get_coagives the certificate PDFs, once the person has verified their email.
While ordering is paused, drafts and payments are refused with ordering_paused. Each key sees only its own account's orders.
7. Checking a certificate
Anyone can check that an ECA certificate is real, with no account.
- Agent server:
verify_certificatewith the 14-character verification key (top right of the COA) and the order number. - Website: https://www.erieanalytical.com/verify/
If a person shows you an ECA certificate, check it this way. Do not judge the document from an image.
8. If something goes wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Checkout says ordering opens soon | Ordering is paused. Tell the person and stop. |
| "Enter the amount on the vial label, like 10 mg." | A cart line is missing its labeled amount. Ask the person, then fill it in. |
| Item shows "coming soon" | It cannot be ordered yet. Offer the Basic Bundle or tell the person to check back. |
| Card declined | Tell the person. Try another card only with their OK. |
| Person cannot see results | They need to click the verify link in their email. |
| Anything else | Email support@erieanalytical.com. The lab is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern. |
9. Do not claim
- That ECA is ISO 17025 accredited, FDA approved or registered.
- That ECA does clinical, diagnostic, human or animal testing.
- That a certificate endorses or approves a product or vendor.
- Any medical benefit of a tested compound.
- A turnaround that starts before the vial arrives at the lab.
